The Amsterdam Cello Octet are closely associated with the work of Arvo Pärt and here they give the first performances in the UK of several works he has specially written and arranged for them. Pärt’s solemn invocations are interspersed by the bracing motor- rhythms of Dutch composer Fant de Kanter’s latest work for the ensemble. The concert opens with iconoclastic composer Terry Riley’s dark vigil for the innocent victims of the Iraq war.
Cyngerdd perfformiadau cyntaf a gyflwynir gan yr ensemble gwadd rhyfeddol hwn sy’n cydweithio’n agos ag Arvo Pärt ar recordiad newydd o’i waith.
