Composer Title Duration
(Film Screening) Peter Greenaway: Four American Composers – Philip Glass 50′
Philip Glass Glassworks 40′

Celebrating his 75th birthday this year, Philip Glass is perhaps the world’s best-known living composer. His swirling, propulsive style has penetrated almost all aspects of modern music, be it the concert hall, the film soundtrack or the TV commercial.

A fascinating insight to Glass is offered by Peter Greenaway’s startling and intimate film about the composer. It incorporates performances and conversations with and about Glass, creating an experience that extends beyond the music alone to explore his concepts and express his personality.

Following the screening, the Gilt Ensemble, conducted by James Slater,  will perform Glassworks, a collection of six short pieces – beautiful, haunting and very moving.
