Craig Vear Three Last Letters (in memoriam Capt. Scott, Dr. Wilson & Lt. Bowers) Vale of Glamorgan Festival commission – world premiere 30′

(7.45pm Craig Vear talks to Jean McNeil about his residency in the Antarctic and its influence on his composition)

Commissioned by the Vale of Glamorgan Festival, Craig Vear’s Three Last Letters commemorates the centenary of Robert Scott’s last days in Antarctica. The work draws on the composer’s field recordings from the region taken during his stay with the British Antarctic Society along with the writings of Scott who famously set sail from Cardiff on his ill fated expedition.
