|Georges Lentz||Ingwe from Mysterium (Caeli enarrant … VII) – UK premiere||60′|
(7.30pm Pre-concert talk with Georges Lentz and Zane Banks)
Inspired by time spent in the Australian outback, Ingwe (an aboriginal word for night) evokes a spiritual journey taken by the composer, one he has described as ‘a desperate shout to the heavens’. From Jimi Hendrix-like walls of sound to peaceful stretches of quiet meditation, the music depicts on the one hand, the radiant night sky in the silent vastness of the desert and, on the other the dark night of the soul.
