Peter Reynolds Composers Studio

“The PRCS was a well-thought through and incredibly beneficial course. The combination of performances, concerts, workshops and one-to-ones made the experience really rewarding…. Please keep this running, it was one of the best summer composition courses I have attended and it was really enriching to be on”. – Cameron Biles – Liddell, Composer

The Peter Reynolds Composers Studio (PRCS) is a residential course for talented young music makers, providing intensive skills development and the opportunity to create and share their new works in performances by world class professional musicians.

PRCS has been described by recent participants as “one of the UK’s best composers’ schools” and providing vital experiences that “are like gold dust” for developing musicians. No other organisation in Wales provides this composer development support. With its unique model of workshops, expert seminars, talks, musical presentation, artist collaboration and recording and sharing of new work, PRCS provides talented composers with vital development support through the creation of new work. Robert Fokkens (Composer and Reader in Music at Cardiff University, who are a partner organisation) has led our PRCS program since its inception, guiding our composers through the process of realising their new works, providing exceptional support at every juncture (enhanced by visiting tutors such as Lynne Plowman, Pedro Faria Gomes, and Mark David Boden).

“The PRCS was a fantastic opportunity to meet with other composers, collaborate with musicians and make links across the new music community” – Florence Ann Maunders

Applications for the 2023 PRCS are now closed.

You can support the six young composers of this year’s cohort as they prepare their work for archival recording and performance in two creative masterclasses on 24 September and 27 September.
