The Peter Reynolds Composers Studio (PRCS) is a residential course for talented young music makers, providing intensive skills development and the opportunity to create and share their new works in performances by world class professional musicians.
PRCS has been described by recent participants as “one of the UK’s best composers’ schools” and providing vital experiences that “are like gold dust” for developing musicians. No other organisation in Wales provides this composer development support. With its unique model of workshops, expert seminars, talks, musical presentation, artist collaboration and recording and sharing of new work, PRCS provides talented composers with vital development support through the creation of new work.
“The PRCS was a fantastic opportunity to meet with other composers, collaborate with musicians and make links across the new music community” – Florence Ann Maunders
Named in memory of Peter Reynolds, a much-loved friend and supporter of the Festival, the Studio offers intensive learning under Course Director Dr Robert Fokkens of Cardiff University. The course is run in partnership with Cardiff University School of Music, with specific support from Ty Cerdd.
Applications for the 2022 PRCS are now closed but join our mailing list to be kept up to date on the application dates for 2023. Please do contact us if you need any additional advice or support with an application.
We are pleased to announce the 2022 PRCS cohort! The Vale of Glamorgan Festival will be welcoming emerging composers Murrough Connolly, Emily de Grucy, Harriet Grainger, Chloe Knibbs, Israel Lai and J W Martin to Cardiff soon, for an exciting residency of music creation, industry seminars and networking and a whole host of other new music making experiences.
